Icecast installation

*) download the icecart from "http://www.icecast.org/"
*) Extract the file and for install
*) ./configure
*) make && make install

After install we have to do the following changes in the configuration file.

*)Update the user and password in Authentication section

Code: Select all
<authentication>
        <!-- Sources log in with username 'source' -->
        <source-password>admin</source-password>
        <!-- Relays log in username 'relay' -->
        <relay-password>hackme</relay-password>

        <!-- Admin logs in with the username given below -->
        <admin-user>admin</admin-user>
        <admin-password>icecast</admin-password>
    </authentication>

*) Mention the server host address and the port
<hostname>69.20.92.165</hostname>
<listen-socket>
<port>8000</port>

*) We get the error, icecast cannot be run as root. To overcome this we
have to create the icecast user(any name) and the same should be updated
in the configuration file.

<changeowner>
<user>icecast</user>
<group>icecast</group>
</changeowner>

*) start the icecast
icecast -b -c /usr/local/etc/icecast.xml(config file location)

*) we can login into the icecast admin through the url :

<ipaddress>:8000/admin

That's it. Hope this will help you for future reference.
